But What is a Green Spot? That’s a question that I have been pondering for some time. After all, if a restaurant uses napkins made from recycled paper, but packages “leftovers” in Styrofoam is it really “green friendly?” While some “Green Spots” really aren’t “Green,” meaning that they use 100% wind power, 100% recycled paper, pay to off-set the carbon emitted by trucks transporting goods….. but uses recycled paper…shouldn’t they get some credit? Truthfully, it is really difficult to be “fully green” and since my Carbon output is ultimately combined with Your Carbon output (because we do live on the same planet….) then even a slight decline in some restaurant’s carbon footprint, is actually a benefit we all enjoy. So What is Green? There are many answers, but for 10 Steps To Greener it is an effort….a “first step.” Let’s celebrate and support small changes and hope that they lead to greater and more institutionalized change.
Looking for a lunch spot that recycles and is Green friendly (or moving in the right direction)? Or a yoga studio? This s a growing endeavor. Please send me suggestions!

Green Friendly Lunch Spots:
- Java Green Cafe
- Bus Boys and Poets
- Ben and Jerrys BJ in Georgetown offers customers the choice of “wooden biodegradable spoons” or “plastic non-biodegradable spoons” Would be interesting to find out which the majority choose….
Yoga Studios:
Wow, I think it’s awesome that the White House has taken on a commitment to being “green.” Question- What’s the best way to dispose of toxic cleaning products? I only use eco-friendly products, but the flat I moved into is full of left-over chemical cleaning products. I’m afraid to just throw them out or dump them in the drain….seems like they will pollute more. So I’ve just left them under the sink. I hate having them in the house though- any suggestions?!
I like to share with my Green meet up members that the white house is green and using Shaklee products. The cleaning product is gtd organic and the others are all natural. Check out my web page and contact me if you want a copy of the article. Today it is not just the outside – its what in our homes. And what is affecting our children and ourselves.
